Myitthings.com "New IT Designer" Runway Contest!

Last night Kathlin Argiro was a judge at the Myitthings.com "New IT Designer" contest!

The first time event for Myitthings.com was a huge success with America's Next Top Model cast member Jaslene Gonzalez and Project Runway model winner Lisa Nargi walking the runway. Among the attendees were Project Runway's Kevin Christiana and Malan Brenton, who was also a judge.

Beauty is Not Only Dress Deep!

Here at Kathlin Argiro we love dresses! The way women look and feel in the perfect dress is a bit of a euphoric experience for us! Wrap dresses, cocktail dresses, bridesmaids dresses, sun dresses.... we are obsessed! Ask us why we love dresses so much and our list pratically never ends. DO YOUR BRIDESMAIDS A FAVOR

Ever wondered what happens to all those bridesmaid dresses once the wedding is over? I was in my neighborhood charity shop yesterday when I spotted one: the proverbial shiny triple tiered pink that looked as if all the air had been let out of the ruffles. This, like countless other once-worn pastels hang in many a thrift shop or stuffed away in the back of a closet. More resourceful bridesmaids have been known to make pillows and patchwork throws out of them.

Do your bridesmaids a favor. Consider whether she’ll actually be able to wear her dress after the wedding, especially if she’s shelling out the $250-300 going rate

Kathlin Argiro is "Tim Gunn" of Online Fashion World

Kathlin Argiro has been chosen as the mentor for the "It" Designer contest hosted by MyItThings.com, a leading website specializing in user-generated fashion content.

Bringing Fashion to the forefront of the Web World, contestants were asked to submit five of their best designs to be judged by an online audience.

"This is an amazing opportunity for designers to get exposure. It's natural that the technology world and the fashion world would eventually collide. Then internet can open doors for designers that never existed before. The It Designer contest is the Project Runway for the Internet Generation," commented Kathlin Argiro.

The contest, which launched on May 12 of this year, closed last month on July 15 with over 100,000 votes from MyItThings.com users.  The three top designers were given $1500 to work on their spring collection as well as a personal mentoring session with Kathlin Argiro. They will be displaying their work at a fashion show on October 15 in Manhattan. 

WINNERS: Nora delBusto (Chicago), Wakana Koike (NYC), Adolfo Sanchez (Las Vegas).

When Kathlin Argiro's signature pink and white dressong (dress / sarong combo) came with different tying instructions I couldn't imagine all would actually work on my body. So I had to try them all (including my own one-shoulder "invention").

Kathlin Argiro Inspires Artist's Latest Painting

Daniel Weinstein, an abstract expressionist from Long Island, based one of his newest painting off of a Kathlin Argiro dress! Weinstein saw his friend, who had shopped with Kathlin Argiro, wearing the "Kathlin Argiro Magic Dress" (recently worn by fashion guru Stacy London). The colors inspired him to create an abstract painting which he named "Melanie's Dress".
